Important: only share your address with the selected collector

Only the selected collector can open the private address and appointment form. They must book a collection time within 24 hours.

Your address is valuable personal information

Think of your home address as a vital piece of your identity. It doesn't just tell people where you live; it can inadvertently reveal your daily routines, when your house might be empty, or when you are expecting visitors. Because it is so sensitive, your exact details should never be posted publicly on a listing, nor should they be handed out to every single person who happens to click I’m interested. Keeping this information private is the very first step to staying safe online.

The address unlocks only after selection

To keep things secure, interested members will only ever see your broad location within the Kirklees area while browsing. The real exchange of information happens only after you've actually chosen someone to take your item. Once you select a recipient, the site takes over and emails that person a private, secure booking link.

After they sign in through that link, and only then, will this single selected member be able to view your saved home address. They will also be able to see the collection days you've permitted, along with the specific morning, afternoon, or evening time windows you are actually available.

To keep the process moving safely, the recipient then has 24 hours to pin down an exact collection time. This isn't just about convenience—it creates a transparent, clear record of exactly who has been given your address and precisely when they’ve agreed to show up at your door.

Why this reduces address collecting

You might wonder why we go to these lengths. Unfortunately, there are people out there who gather addresses with absolutely no intention of collecting an item. They might use or pass on your personal information for unwanted marketing spam, resale, potential fraud, nuisance visits, or other shady activities.

Since Reuse Kirklees can't read minds or guarantee another person’s true intentions, we take the safest route possible. We are built to protect you by revealing the absolute minimum amount of information to the fewest number of people needed to get your item successfully rehomed.

Safe collection steps

To make sure every handover goes as smoothly and safely as possible, please keep these guidelines in mind:

-Keep your full address completely out of your listing titles, descriptions, and make sure house numbers or street signs aren't visible in your photographs

-Set the collection days and time windows that genuinely work for your daily schedule, so you're never caught off guard

-Let the system do the work—only the officially selected collector should be opening that private booking form

-Use "leave-out" or safe place instructions only when you are completely comfortable doing so

-Expect your collector to arrive within a reasonable window of 15 minutes before or after the agreed booked time

-Block and report anyone who becomes pushy or tries to pressure you into handing over your address before they have been selected

Simply showing interest in an item never grants someone access to your home address. An official selection and an accepted private booking invitation are always required first.
